Qualifications
- Must have a Grade 12/NQF Level 4 Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Fire and Disaster Management or a related qualification (NQF Level 6/7)
- Fire Officer certification or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license (Code 10 with PDP preferred)
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in firefighting, disaster management, and emergency response operations, including 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage fire and disaster response teams during emergencies and disasters.
- Develop and implement fire safety and disaster response plans.
- Oversee the maintenance of firefighting equipment and disaster response infrastructure.
- Ensure the safety and training of all fire and disaster management personnel.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments and external agencies in disaster preparedness and response.
- Provide reports on disaster management activities, including incident reviews and recommendations for improvement.
